Every school day, 900 vulnerable children at Nairrataat Primary depend on a single cup of porridge—the only meal many of them will eat. For these young learners, this cup is far more than food: it is strength, dignity, and the promise of a future where poverty does not define their destiny. Springs of Hope Mashinani, founded by humanitarian and Rotarian Penina Marete, has stood in the gap for children across Makueni, Meru, and Kajiado Counties, offering not only meals but mentorship, guidance, and opportunities. Through scholarships, leadership support, and community nourishment initiatives, we empower children and youth to rise beyond their circumstances.
