GivingTuesday Kenya is a national generosity movement that celebrates Kenyan giving in all its forms — time, skills, kindness, resources and collective action. It is an invitation for Kenyans everywhere to uplift one another and strengthen the country’s social fabric through generosity.
As part of the global GivingTuesday movement launched in 2012, Kenya joins more than 90 countries in celebrating generosity as a force that unites people and transforms communities.
In Kenya, GivingTuesday is deeply rooted in the philosophy of Harambee, the spirit of pulling together so that no one is left behind.
“Harambee embodies the Kenyan spirit of pulling together so that no one is left behind, making it a perfect expression of giving and collective uplift on GivingTuesday.”
GivingTuesday Kenya envisions a nation where the philosophy of Harambee inspires every individual, family, and institution to recognise the needs within our communities, relate to them through compassion and shared responsibility, and respond with generosity that strengthens the nation’s social fabric.
We imagine a Kenya where giving is not just a charitable act but a unifying force that drives development, inclusion, and resilience.
Anchored in the Kenya Philanthropy Forum’s mission to coordinate and strengthen national giving ecosystems, the movement seeks to cultivate a Kenya where people routinely pull together across counties, cultures and generations to uplift one another and build a shared future of possibility.
We recognise community needs, opportunities, and aspirations across the country — ensuring that every voice counts and every challenge is seen.
Inspired by Harambee, we create spaces for unity, connection, and shared responsibility through storytelling, dialogue, and collective compassion.
We encourage generous action — time, resources, skills, advocacy — to uplift families, communities, and Kenya as a whole.
GivingTuesday Kenya mobilises individuals and institutions to give meaningfully, amplifies local giving traditions like Harambee, encourages community-driven development, and fosters a culture where generosity is part of national identity.
Since joining the global movement, Kenya has grown its GivingTuesday presence through community drives, media campaigns, youth-led activations, and corporate giving. The Kenya Philanthropy Forum has been instrumental in coordinating partners, guiding campaigns, and expanding national participation.
GivingTuesday Kenya is coordinated by the Kenya Philanthropy Forum, working collaboratively with corporate partners, foundations, nonprofits, youth groups, private sector partners, and community-based organisations.
