GivingTuesday Uganda is a generosity movement that celebrates giving in all its forms — time, skill, kindness, creativity, and financial support — while infusing every act of generosity with purpose and shared humanity.
As part of the global GivingTuesday movement launched in 2012, Uganda joins more than 90 countries celebrating generosity as a universal value.
“Bulungi Bwansi reflects Uganda’s tradition of coming together for the good of the community, a spirit that aligns seamlessly with the generosity of GivingTuesday.”
GivingTuesday Uganda envisions a country where generosity becomes a cultural rhythm woven into daily life — where we recognise the stories that matter in our communities, relate to them with empathy rooted in our shared humanity, and respond with bold, joyful, and purposeful acts of giving. Our vision is to nurture a Uganda where people do not wait for crises to care, but naturally extend compassion, creativity, and solidarity to one another.
Guided by Dwona’s Initiative storytelling and artistic expression and CivLegacy’s commitment to nurturing lasting community impact, the movement imagines a future where giving is not a momentary gesture but a lifestyle that shapes how we build dignity, justice, and opportunity for all.
We recognise the stories, struggles, joys and everyday acts of courage within our communities. By naming what matters — from menstrual injustice to youth challenges to silent generosity — we ensure that no issue remains unseen and no community unheard.
We relate through shared humanity, using dance, storytelling, creativity and communal expression to foster emotional connection and cultural belonging. This is where awareness becomes empathy and empathy becomes collective identity.
We respond with purpose. Every act of generosity — whether giving time, skill, voice or resources — becomes a bold and intentional contribution to justice, dignity and stronger communities across Uganda.
GivingTuesday Uganda is jointly coordinated by Dwona Initiative & CivLegacy Foundation working with corporate partners, local NGOs, schools, community leaders, youth groups and development partners.
